Swachh City Solutions App Aims to Produce Momentum to Swacch Bharat Mission

On Thursday, the Urban Development Ministry announced that it would launch the web and smartphone-based app for citizens to post their complaints about the garbage pile-up in their areas and seek timely redressal of their grievances. The app has been named Swacch City Solutions and is being developed in partnership with a Bengaluru-based NGO Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy. The app is developed to ensure timely and effective implementation of the Swachh Bharat Mission objectives in 4,041 towns across the country. The application will be functional by April and will give citizens access to lodge their complaint and actively participate in keeping their cities clean via Swachh City Solutions App.

The Swacch City solutions app will not only act as a complaint registry platform but will also act as the dashboard, that will ensure community participation and time-bounded compalint resolutions. On the basis of the statistical result from Swachh City Solution app, a ranking of cleanliness will be generated for all the 4,041 towns. The application aims to provide momentum to the vision of Swachh Bharat Mission towards a clean and garbage free India by 2019. The application will equip with features that will allow them to view complaints posted, and show support by Voting-Up on various cleanliness issues of their respective town

The Urban Development Ministry Joint Secretary Praveen Prakash said, "Through this App, the government is providing the citizens with a platform to express their concerns regarding their areas and build community participation and consensus towards maintaining the cleanliness in their cities". He further said, "The App will also enable municipal officials/field engineers to see each complaint and update the status of the resolution along with photos, hence building accountability in the system by ensuring timely grievance redressal".
