WhatsApp the most popular instant messenger client for both Android and iOS platforms has now presented a desktop application which will be accessible for both Windows and Mac users. Like WhatsApp Web, our desktop app is simply an extension of your phone: the app mirrors conversations and messages from your mobile device.”
To download the application, user must pay visit to WhatsApp's official blog from another desktop browser. Then the user needs to open the application and scan the corresponding QR code using the WhatsApp application on the smartphone. User can then find the WhatsApp Web menu under Settings.
On the compatibility front, the desktop application is supportable on all systems that run on Windows 8+ and Mac OS 10.9+ and gets synchronized with WhatsApp on one's cell phone. Since application runs locally on the desktop, users will get support for local desktop notifications, better keyboard shortcuts like on Windows, you can archive a chat by pressing Ctrl + E, mute it with Ctrl + Shift + M, change the read status of message with Ctrl + Shift + U and delete it with Ctrl + Backspace. Press Ctrl + F and you'll be taken directly to the search bar while Ctrl + N and Ctrl + Shift + N help in starting a new chat or group respectively. On Mac, the shortcuts remain the same except you'll need to replace Ctrl with the Command key.
