BCCI stands for Board of Control for Cricket in India and its head office is located in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It is a national authority that governs all type of formats of Indian cricket. It was founded in 1928 by replacing Calcutta Cricket Club. It has rights to select players, decide stadiums and umpires. It is affiliated to International Cricket Council (ICC).

BCCI has five zones in which it holds 27 associations with states and 3 non-playing members across North zone, South zone, East Zone, West zone and central zone of India. It organizes domestic cricket championships like Irani Trophy, Ranji Trophy, Indian premier League, Duleep Trophy, and Vijay Hazare Triphy etc. It is the richest sports organization in the country with revenue of Rs.868 crore in 2010-11. It has authority to hold all the rights regarding cricket control in the country.
