Hindustan Motors is an automaker group of India, headquatered in Kolkata, West Bengal. This company is the manufacturer of famous Ambessoder cars which is mostly used as government luxurious wagon and taxicab. It is a member of Birla Technical Services of B.M. Birla Group. It also made a voint venture with General Motors for the production of Vauxhall Motors and Bedford Trucks etc.
1999, the company's Tractor making division was acquired by Mahindra Tractors with 60% sharing and in 2001, the whole company was purchased and assigned a new name called Mahindra Gujrat Tractors. Hinsustan Motors has started a joint business with Mitsubishi in 1998 and launched several models like Mitsubishi Lancer, Mitsubishi Cedia and Pajero etc.
