Lexus is the car manufacturing division of the Japanese car maker Toyota. The Lexus brand entered the Indian market with its three flagship cars named Lexus RX 450h hybrid SUV, ES 300h sedan, and the LX 450d. The Lexus brand has marked its presence in 70 countries and territories globally. It is headquartered in Nagoya, Japan while the operational centres are located in Belgium, Brussels, Torrance and California.
Historically, Lexus emerged in 1983 with a code name F1. The company launched the Lexus LS in 1989. Later on, the company expanded its portfolio with sedan, coupe, convertible, and SUV models. During 1989-2005, Lexus operated under the Toyota marque. In 2005, the RX crossover debuted. From the beginning of production, Lexus vehicles have been produced in Japan, with manufacturing centered in the Chubu and Kyushu regions, and in particular at Toyota's Tahara, Aichi, Chubu and Miyata, Fukuoka, Kyushu plants. Assembly of the first Lexus built outside the country, the Ontario, Canada–produced RX 330, began in 2003. Following a corporate reorganization from 2001 to 2005, Lexus operates its own design, engineering, and manufacturing centers. car manufacturing division of theher hybrid models joined the lineup on a later stage. In 2007, Lexus launched the F IS F sport sedan and the LFA supercar in 2009 subsequently.
From starting, the Lexus vehicles have been produced in Japan, with the main production units located in Chubu and Kyushu regions, and in particular at Toyota's Tahara, Aichi, Chubu and Miyata, Fukuoka, Kyushu plants. The Lexus division takes care of engineering and design solely.
