Premier is an Indian automobile manufacturer company headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Its owner is Walchand Group which has various business units related to constructions, shipyard, industries and insurance co. and many other. Premier Ltd. was founded in 1941. The company had owned the licenses to manufacture a Plymouth car and Dodge truck and around in 1949, its vehicles were sold under the names as Dodge, DeSoto, Fargo and Plymouth. The company was negotiated with Chrysler Group and its qualities of products were considered by the group and Indian Defense.
Premier and Hindustan Motors started making the parts of these vehicles but both the companies faced low sales in the automobile market. The company has manufactured Fiat 1100 model in 1964 and later on it joined with Peugeot for production of Peugeot 309. The assembled models of Premier Ltd were Dodge Kingsway, Plymouth Belvdere and Fiat Uno. Its current models are Premier Rio, Premier Roadstar, Premier Sigma Lifeline and Premier Sigma etc.
