Reva electric vehicle is a car company owned by Mahindra and Mahindra Group. It is headquartered in Banglore, India. REVAi electric car is a flagship vehicle of the company which is available in 4,000 various versions in approx 26 countries. In 2010, it was fully acquired by Indian automotive group Mahindra and Mahindra.
It was founded in 1994 as Reva Electric Car Company (RECC). The founder was Chetan Maini and it was a joint venture of Amerigon Electric Vehicles Technologies (AEVT Inc.) from the US and Maini Group of India. The company developed low price small electric cars and in 2001 the RECC launched the car named REVA. Mahindra group launched two different versions of REVAi as REVA L-ion and REVAi. The further launch was the NXR which was introduced in Frankfurt Motor Show of 2009.
