After globally launched in April this year, the Mercedes AMG SLC 43 launched in India at the price of INR 77.5 Lakh (Ex-Showroom New Delhi). The new AMG tuned convertible SLC 43 is a replacement of SLK55 AMG, and is the second AMG launch in this year, after the Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 AMG Coupe.
On the occasion of 20th Anniversary of SLK class, Mercedes-Benz officially unveiled the 2016 SLC class in the end of last year, while its global launch took place in April this year. And now the German luxury car manufacturer introduced this new range-topping performance model SLC 43 roadster to the Indian market.

The new Convertible SLC 43 receives a number of updates, out of them the most significant change is made to its under hood. The regular 5.5-litre naturally aspirated V8 motor is replaced with a new smaller 3.0-litre V6 bi-turbo unit which delivers a maximum power of 367 bhp in combination with a peak torque of 520 Nm. This powerful unit is mated to a new 9G-TRONIC sports transmission which transfers the power to the rear wheels. It catches 100 kmph from standstill in just 4.7 seconds up to the electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph.
Being carry an AMG tag, the roadster gets an aggressive AMG sports kit, AMG featured steering wheel and instrument cluster, AMG sports seats, and updated suspension and chassis to improve the overall performance.
The exterior updates of the car include a new sportier bumper, diamond radiator grille like the A-class, tweaked headlamps with DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) upfront. The side profile of the car remains unchanged except the new 18-inch light alloy wheels. Moving to the rear, it gets a new bumper, chrome-treated dual exhausts, a blacked-out diffuser and reprofiled LED taillamps. Besides, the roof mechanism is now fully automatic, no manual operation is required.

Inside the cabin, it offers a light (standard) or dark (optional) aluminium trim parts with a carbon fiber polish, newly designed instrument cluster, a larger 7-inch display, an updated 20 CD audio entertainment and a COMAND online infotainment system as well.
The German-based luxury vehicle maker, Mercedes-Benz introduced the SLK family in 1996 and has 6.7 lakh global sales before it was discontinued. Whether the new SLC 43 reaches to the breakthrough sales in India or not, but it will give a tough competition to the Audi TT and BMW Z4 for sure.
