It was in year 2008 when the Indian buyers were first got the chance to accelerate Audi’s entry level luxury car, the A4. Since then, it has also received so many upgrades including the facelift version. Considering the increasing popularity and demand of the luxury saloon among the consumers, a premium sport edition of the same was also launched in the country back in 2014. Seems like, the thirst of being on top won’t be quenched and absolutely not in the automobile segment, where the competition has been evolving at the brisk speed.
So, here is the next generation Audi A4, which was serving the global markets till date and now enters the Indian shores. Available in two trims namely Premium Plus and Technology, it is being priced at INR 38.10 Lakhs and 41.2 Lakhs respectively (Ex-showroom).
The latest generation model had first spread its glimpse at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show followed by the 2016 Auto Expo. Instead of having the new makeover at both, the exterior and the interior, it has shaved off about 95 kg of weight, thanks to the new platform.
The new Audi A4 is based on the Volkswagen’s MLB Evo architecture- a redesigned platform, acquiring new quality trim and refinement elements in order to enhance the performance level as well as to lessen down the weight of the vehicle. Dimensionally, the all new sedan is measured 4,726 mm in length, 1,472 in height, 1,842 mm in width, and a longer wheelbase of 2,820 mm.
In order to increase the aesthetic appeal of the unit, the carmaker has attached a restyled bonnet which is dominated by the single frame trapezoidal grille, L-shaped headlights with Matrix LEDs, etc. Tail lights have also been amazed by the LED support.
Unlike the conventional instrument cluster, the cabin is featured with the Audi Virtual Cockpit equipped with a 12.3-inch TFT display and allows the owner to feel a completely new experience. Furthermore, the dashboard layout has also been redesigned with a plethora of switches on the centre console and several other contemporary features. Some of the other noticeable attributes are - dual zone climate control, rear A/C vents, advanced infotainment system, etc.
Mechanically, the latest generation Audi A4 will be powered by a 1.4-litre TFSI petrol engine and generates 148 Bhp of power and 250 Nm of torque. Besides, the car is not going to feature the company’s all wheel drive facility. The power will only be dispatched at the front axles through a 7-speed dual clutch transmission Box.
