The website Camaro6 has recently displayed some official images of the all new Chevrolet Camaro Convertible. These images, posted on the official website of Chevrolet for a brief time period but were later removed. These images feature a coupe car being driven on the road with a removable roof top. Chevrolet has also released a video along with a tweet mentioning that the upcoming coupe will be premiered on June, 24. The video displays a man who opens up the car roof by merely pushing a button and the description says, “It all goes down 6/24/15”. The tweet also claims that this new generation model will be the most innovative Camaro Convertible ever.
Due to the extensive use of aluminium as a replacement to the instrument panel frame, the new Camaro is 90 kg lighter than its predecessor. Apart from this, a five-link rear suspension system has also been introduced. The car's structure has also been made 60 kg lighter as compared to the previous generation model with 28% more rigidity.
The powertrain range of this all new coupe includes a 2 litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol unit and a 3.6 litre, V6 petrol unit. The former generates a power of 271 Bhp and 295 lb ft of torque while the latter produces 330 Bhp and 248 lb ft of torque. The most powerful range will offer a 6.2 litre, V8 engine which will pump out 449 Bhp and 455lb ft of torque. The engine will be clubbed with either a six-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The USA market will witness the sale of this model by the end of this year while in Europe the model will land to the showrooms in the beginning of 2016. However, there is no confirmation by the company on its Right Hand Drive version. So, it is doubtful that countries like India, UK and Australia will have this model in their markets.
