Ford Endeavour has recorded a good demand in the month of April, which surpassed the segment leader Toyota Fortuner. It has managed to bring the Fortuner down from the top position by a good margin.
The sales report reveal that the automaker sold around 560 units of the Endeavour in the month of April, while the Fortuner recorded a sales of 509 units. It has been noticed that the Endeavour has been witnessing a good amount of sales figure in the last couple of months as well. Meanwhile, the fortuner sales have dropped over the past six months. The newly launched Endeavour has maintained its portfolio in the segment as a good emerging SUV.
The major reason behind the downfall in the sales of the Fortuner model is suspected for the reason being the ban over the diesel engines in the NCR region. The NCR alone accounts for the 15 percent sales of this particular model. The other products that come into the segment have also not performed so well. The model include Mitsubishi Pajero Sport (60 units), Hyundai Santa Fe (26 units), Chevrolet Trailblazer (13 units), Ssangyong Rexton (1 unit).
The 2016 Ford Endeavour comes with two engine choices, a 2.2-liter four-cylinder TDCi diesel engine and a larger 3.2-liter five-cylinder TDCi diesel engine, the latter is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 2.2-liter diesel unity offers a maximum power output of 160 PS at 3,200 rpm and 385 Nm of peak torque at 1,600 to 2,500 rpm. While, the powerful 3.2-liter delivers 200 PS at 3,000 rpm and 470 Nm of peak torque at 1,750 to 2,500 rpm.
The Ford Endeavour is said be the only D-segment SUV, which has forecast a positive sales figure. So, it seems that Ford have been successful in maintaining the buyer's interest in its car. Also, Toyota will soon be launching the new Fortuner by the end of this year or early next year in order to start a new chapter.
