A camouflaged prototype of the 2017 BMW 5 Series Sedan has been spotted while testing in Germany. However, the body accesories remain hidden but we can say a lot about the design and the exhaust rear panel. It is said to be the concept of 535i or the 535d model, which will come powered by a 6-cylinder mill. It also receives dual-exhaust tip, hinting a heavy power generation.
The midsize sedan has been seen testing several times as the launch schedule is coming close. Some previous reports hint that the new G30 5 Series details will come out by couple of months later, while it is likely to get unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, scheduled to be held in september.
Based on the spyshots, we can specify that the G30 5 Series design will be inspired from the recently launched 7 Series, which comes with an elongated body style, upright kidney grille, sharp-rounded corners and sleek headlights. Similarly, just like the 7 Series, the new G30 5 Series is expected to offer optional laser headlights with selective beam.
It is claimed that the car will be lighter than the current F10 5 Series. Using the carbon fibre body structure underpinned by the new CLAR platform. The kerb weight of the car could be reduced up to 100 kgs. The platform is said to be the smart combination of high-strength steel, aluminum and carbon fiber.
We’ll also get to see some new modern technologies that will be used in the 7 Series. The dashboard could house a new iDrive infotainment system, which offers inbuilt gesture control and fresh laser headlights.
