The performance bikes manufacturing Japanese firm, Kawasaki has introduced the 2017 Ninja 1000 sports tourer in its Indian lineup, today. Priced at Rs 9.98 lakh ex-showroom, pan India, the 2017 Ninja 1000 will hit the dealerships all the way through Semi Knocked Down (SKD) route and in limited count of 20 units. As, it is the total allocated amount by manufacturer for the Indian market.
Aesthetically, this next generation Ninja 1000 version gets a wider front fairing for more protection to the rider’s leg and a taller windscreen with an improved aerodynamic stance and three level adjustability. The windscreen associated adjustments can easily be made without any tools. In addition to that, the latest LED headlamps on the motorcycle are 1.3 to 1.5 times much brighter on low beams and 1.4 times in projection distance on high beam. In terms of power consumption, these new headlamps fitment consumes 50 percent less power than the conventional lights.
Mechanically, the 2017 Ninja is loaded with a 1043cc, four stroke inline-four motor. The Euro -IV-compliant mill is rated to produce 142 ps of maximum power at 10000rpm and 111Nm of peak torque at 7300 rpm. All the generated power will be transferred to the rear wheel via an integrated 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. The suspension duties will be under consideration of 41mm USD front forks and a gas charged rear monoshock. Both the components are provided with step-less compression, rebound damping and spring preload adjustability. While, the braking will come from dual 300mm petal discs at the front and a 250mm petal disc at the rear wheels in connection with the Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Braking System (KIBS).

Electronically, the 2017 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 is assisted by the features such as Kawasaki Cornering Management Function for seamless power delivery and the KTRC which provides traction and wheelie control.
Apart from the 2017 Ninja 1000, the company has also launched the Z900 without accessories. It is priced at Rs 7.68 lakh, ex-showroom, pan India. All in all, this naked streetfighter is identical to the already available model in terms of underpinned mechanicals. While, the accessories such as flyscreen, crash bobbins for the front forks, engine guards, engine casing covers, a gel tank pad, premium seat cover and pillion seat cowl with small back cushioning for the rider, a 12V charging socket on the handlebar, and a radiator guard are not a part of this new emergent.
Beneath the fuel tank, the Z900 without accessories is packed with a 948cc inline-four engine. The mill churns out the maximum power of 125PS at 9500rpm and the peak toruqe of 98.6 Nm at 7500rpm.
At the rivalry front, the bike will go in competition with the roadster in this price range including the Ducati Monster 797 and the Triumph Street Triple S.
