Now it’s KTM’s compact-engined streetfighter - 2017 Duke 200’s turn, so audience please make some space in your heart for this aggressively styled evolved version. This one, and the new KTM Duke 250, of which revealing report we have produced you two days earlier, were not accounted to display at the passed EICMA 2016 in Italy. Where almost all the revamped flagship models of KTM’s lineup, include the next year 390, 1290 and 125 models were rolled out.
As we told you in our last report, the updated 200 Duke will draw styling inspiration from the from the fresh Duke 390 and will resemble to its closest sibling-the Duke 250. If talked about the featuring of this new model, it has gained almost various elements similar to the 250 Duke, as the fixation of a halogen light with DRLs, and an LCD instrument cluster from the outgoing model. Moreover, a redesigned assembly of rider and pillion seat is also there along with the renewal in grab rail position, under the rear seat. Actually, this alteration at the bike’s rear end has made the tail section neat and minimalistic. More or less, all is went same with the next-gen Duke 200, as it also misses out the equipment of the LED headlight and the TFT instrument console from the 2017 Duke 390.
In the mechanical section, the KTM 200 Duke is being powered by the similar 199cc single-cylinder engine, which is performing duties on one of the outgoing models. The power figures are not revealed officially, yet it is anticipated that tuned to follow Euro IV emission norms, the motor will pump out power and torque figures more or less similar to the old ones - 25bhp and 19Nm. Apart from this, a new exhaust system integrated to the trellis frame is also visible as in a change.
Here in India, probable to launch in the early next year, the new Duke 200 will go head to head with the Mahindra Mojo and the Benelli TNT 25 at a slight costlier price tag than the older one.
