2017 Suzuki GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R were first unveiled at Intermot 2016. Both the bikes are now available for booking in India from selected Suzuki dealerships by paying a token amount of INR 2 lakh. As expected, deliveries of the said motorcycles will be started from June 2017. Suzuki’s GSX-R1000 was always counted as an under-powered option of the robust liter class super bikes. 2017 GSX-R1000 is now exhales more power than before while race focused GSX-R1000R gets premium equipment over the last variant. Suzuki is likely to tag the motorcycles with price stickers in the range of INR 18-21 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new 2017 GSX-R1000 concept was primilary showcased at EICMA 2015 while the production version looks almost similar as the concept model. It is powered by a new 999.8cc inline-4 engine with VVT (variable valve timing) technology, rated to produce 202 PS of power @ 13,200 rpm and 117.6 Nm of torque @ 10,800 rpm. Other than this, it is equipped with cutting edge technologies such as 6-axis inertial measurement unit and 10-level traction control.
The wet weight of the bike mark the scale at 200 kg, bringing it back into the league of impressive power-weight ratio machines. The real world implementation of Suzuki GSX-R1000’s VVT is highly awaited as it is the first bike to carry the technology in its engine. The huge TFT that is its new instrument console and looks pretty impressive at the first glimpse.
The GSX-R1000R is more track focused and comes fitted with Showa balance free front forks and even balance free rear mono shock. It features light components and comes blessed with launch control, quick-shifter and cornering ABS. It is employed with all the necessary facilities to make it the king of super bikes in the near time.
