There is no secret that the Japanese auto major Suzuki is actively working on next generation Swift hatchback, a near production unit of which has also been caught testing several times by the spy photographers. Besides, a bunch of computer generated images of the same were also surfaced online, giving a close idea of what the production-ready unit would look like. However, they are less expressive owing to a highly camouflaged body. Now, the first-ever photograph of the upcoming 2017 Suzuki Swift with no camo touched the internet ahead of its expected debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, all thanks to Ferd, Facebook’s Automotive Information.
The image which displayed here is not much glaring, but, it is good enough to reveal about itself and it’s suggesting an all-new face of the 2017 Suzuki. The styling over the face looks more evolutionary than that of the previous model. The shape of the grille is hexagonal and it attached with the company’s official logo at little above the centre. The headlights, which appears to be covered by LED daytime running lights now gets more sharp corners. The bumper too has been redesigned and giving a close impression to that of the Maserati GranTurismo Sport. Besides, there is deep fog light situated under the headlights, giving the car a look like a mid-range trim level.
Moving to the side profile, the 2017 Swift’s gets more articulate floating roof rails instead of customary one, while it also gets blacked out A and B pillars along with the upper half of the C-pillars. The rear door handles now positioned near to the C-pillar, confirming the leaked images once surfaced online back in March this year.
Slightly longer and wider than the ongoing Swift, the 2017 unit will also come up with a revamped interior along with more contemporary features. A flat bottom steering is on the list along with an all-new dashboard, which is dominated by fresh instrument cluster, and premium rotary knobs. Renderings of the cabin hint a new touchscreen-based infotainment system that might get offered as a standard attachment on the higher trims.
Coming to the powertrain, the next generation Suzuki Swift is likely to be powered by the same range that includes a four-cylinder 1.2-litre Dualjet diesel engines that are currently doing their duty in run-of-the units. Apart from these, it could also adorn a new 1.5-litre oil bumper derivative engineered in-house by Maruti and the newly developed 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine, which will also make its presence under the hood of upcoming Baleno RS, a sports version of the regular unit.
A high-performance Swift Sport model, which is also reportedly in the pipeline, could make its global debut late 2017. It is likely to get an updated version of the 1.4-litre turbocharged gasoline engine, generating 140 hp of power and currently underpinning the Vitara for global markets. The India-bound 2017 Maruti Swift is expecting to make its debut here in the country sometime during the middle of 2017.
