Ford Figo, a hatchback from the American manufacturer which came to India around seven years ago. The hatch has received updates time to time, in order to maintain its sway in the Indian auto industry. Lately, the Figo was launched in its second-gen mod in 2015. And now the spy images of a crossover variant of the Figo is doing rounds on the internet. In India, the crossover is plausible to entitle as the Figo-Trail. Its global appearance had already occasioned as the Ford Ka-Trail at 2016 Sao Paulo International Auto Show.
Well, the test mule was heavily camouflaged but the features that were highlighted from the covering include an additional skid plate with a redesigned air dam. At the side profile, the body cladding is running from the front wheel arch to the rear and doubles up as the side skirt and a rocker panel. Other than this, the minor changes and some meaty body cladding are also witnessed at the rear bumper. While, inside the cabin, we can expect a few tweaks and a few additional features as a part of the midlife update.
At the powertrain, a new 1.5-litre three cylinder petrol engine is expected to power the new crossover to propel. While the gearbox choice of a six-speed DCT or a five-speed manual gearbox is uncertain for the power transmission. However, a diesel motor with a five-speed gearbox only is also expected with the new crossover.
As far as the launch of the crossover is concerned, the car is likely to hit the dealerships soon after its showcase at the Delhi Auto Expo early next year. In terms of competition in the crossover segment, the Figo Trail is expected to pit against the likes of the Hyundai i20 Active, Volkswagen Cross Polo, Toyota Etios Cross and the Fiat Urban Cross.
