2018 M2 Competition BMW's most affordable M model launched at Rs 79.90 Lakh

The much-awaited BMW M2 Competition has finally been launched at Rs 79.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Bookings for the most affordable M model had already commenced during the festive season last month. The new M2 Competition boasts sportier looks and stronger performance. Sports coupe lovers will have a host of color options to choose from. This includes four metallic paint finishes – Sunset Orange, Hockenheim Silver, Long Beach Blue, and Black Sapphire and one non-metallic paint finish (Alpine White). Pitted against the Rs 85.95 lakh Porsche 718 Cayman, the all-new M2 Competition at outshines its rival in both Price Tag and Power.

The sporty interior complements the muscular exterior with elan. The cabin gets a new instrument cluster with M-style instruments, red needles, and white illumination. The sportier theme is complemented perfectly by the leather draped wheels, red ignition button along with M2 badges and M seatbelts. Customized M Sports seats are also available as an option.

The equipment list on the new BMW M2 competition gets even more alluring than before. Key ones include the BMW’s iDrive controller and optional smart iDrive system with touch controller and navigation. While the seven-speaker system with a 6.5-inch color screen and Bluetooth-USB connectivity must serve all your music and entertainment needs well. One can also opt for the Harman Kardon 12-speaker sound system with Apple CarPlay and an 8.8-inch color screen infotainment screen for a more theatrical experience. Other than this, the coupe also gets front and rear parking sensors and a reverse camera as standard.

For power, the M2 Competition gets a reworked version of the 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. It is the same engine that powers the M3 and M4. But on the M2 the power gets sliced by a few counts to 410hp and 550 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are performed by a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox which delivers power to the rear wheels. The sports coupe promises top speed of 250 kph and 0-100kph acceleration in just 4.2 seconds.

If custom handling and drive options were not enough, the M2 Competition also gets electronically-controlled flaps for the exhaust system. This means that the coupe will also sound the way you would like it too. In addition to making all the right noise, three drive modes- Comfort, Sport, and Sport+ promise an exhilarating drive and handling experience.
