Triumph Tiger 1200 that is a flagship model from the British manufacturer, is slated to launch in India on May 11, 2018. In terms of pricing, it is likely to carry the price tag of around INR 20 lakhs.
With this new iteration of the Tiger 1200, the brand has eliminated the ‘Explorer’ wording from the moniker. Furthermore, the alterations are also witnessed at bike’s cosmetic front on fairing and body. The motorcycle face now adorns a new cornering LED headlamps and an electronically adjustable windshield. While a five-inch colour TFT display is the major attraction of the instrument console. To control it, the automaker offers a five-way joystick on the switchgear.
At the powertrain, Triumph Tiger 1200 gets a 1200cc three-cylinder engine. It comes mated to a six-speed transmission in connection with a bi-directional quick-shifter. The churned out power and torque figures from the motor in question are 140bhp and 123 Nm respectively. The bike stands on a fully-adjustable semi-active WP suspension setup, whereas the braking is handled by Brembo callipers at the front and Nissin callipers at the rear.
Globally, Triumph offers six variants of the Tiger 1200. Here in India, we expect the emergence of an only XC variant. This year brand has launched two products and it will be the third one to join the others via CBU route. The bookings for the model has commenced a few months ago. In the segment, the motorcycle will go in competition with the likes of BMW R1200 GS and the Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro.
