Finally, ending the wait of the passionate aficionado, the high-profile Italian firm Piaggio has rolled out highly anticipated 150cc scooter, Aprilia SR 150 in the country. The most affordable one from the Aprilia is available at the introductory price of INR 65,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Deliveries for the scooter is likely to commence soon.
Look wise, one of the most stylish scooters the SR 150 carries the distinctive European appeal in its design philosophy, which is inspired from Aprilia elder scooters. Built around the slender frame, the scooter looks aggressive owing to its dual headlight assembly on the front apron and the sportier character comes from the race-inspired graphics work.
The Aprilia SR 150 shares powertrain from the Vespa 150S. The exposed 149cc single cylinder, air-cooled motor is capable of generating 11.4bhp of utmost power at 7000rpm and 11.5Nm of peak torque at 5500 rpm with the linked automatic transmission. Runs on 14-inch alloy wheel wrapped with 120/70 tubeless tyres, the SR150 is equipped with a 220mm disc brake integrated with bybre caliper on the front wheel and a 240mm drum brake at the rear to decelerate the scooter. Overall the Aprilia SR 150 offers the practicality of scooter and the performance of motorcycle to the scooter enthusiasts.
This is the first Aprilia which is being produced locally in India at Piaggio Baramati manufacturing facility. And almost 90 percent local components has been used in the scooter. This step really has helped the automaker to keep the pricing competitive to rival against the leader in scooter segment the Honda Activa 125 and the Suzuki Access 125 in the Indian market. Primarily offered in two colour option, the Aprilia SR 150 will be sold through the Vespa and Motoplex showroom of the company. The third colour option is expected to launch in a couple of months.
