Bangaluru based startup, Ather Energy is all set to launch its first electric scooter the S340 in India on 5 June. The S340 is capable of reaching the top speed of 72kmph and offers 60km range. For the first time, the S340 was showcased as a prototype in February 2016. Now after two years, the company is going to put the scooter on sale.
The S340 is meant for a pleasant ownership experience than performance. The provided features on the EV includes are pre-configured drive modes, cloud-based data and diagnostic services and touch-screen display with onboard navigation. The facility of configuring the ride and profile preferences is also being provided with the scooter.

The S340 uses an electric motor as its beating heart that is powered by a lithium-ion battery. The setup is capable of offering a range of up to 60 kilometres and a top speed of 72kmph. Within an hour of time, the battery can be charged up to 80 per cent. With the lifespan 5 to 6 years, the battery pack can make you travel 50,000km.
To work on its ambitious projects, the Ather Energy has granted a funding of USD 40 million from Tiger Global and Flipkart founders. The company will manufacture the S340 at its production facility in Bangalore. Whereas its retail will be handled from brand’s official website. Expectations suggest the S340 pricing will fall in the vicinity of INR 80,000 and INR 1 lakh. Besides, the Ather Grid has been launched by the company in Banglore which encompasses the installation of 30 charging points across the city.
