BMW 1 series sedan was launched exclusively in China on February 2017. But now, the company has introduced the entry-level sedan in Mexico as well where it will be available next to the sec-gen 1 Series hatchback.
The BMW 1 Series sedan is not only 1 Series hatchback along with a boot space but also a new model with larger measures and different styling cues. The 3rd-gen 1 series hatchback is being prepared by the company for 2019 and expected to introduce in upcoming months.
The sedan appears intensive in appearance from the front, although the rear is simple in looking with essential BMW detailings. It has a clean side profile and delivers a keen shoulder line around the car’s length. The sedan (measuring 4456mm x 1803mm x 1446mm in Length x Width x Height) is 38mm wider, 12mm lower and 115mm longer than existing 1 Series hatchback.
The Mexico-bound 1 Series sedan is available with two petrol powertrain choices including a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine generating an output of 192PS/280Nm in the 120iA and a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder engine generating 136PS/220Nm in the 118iA.

Both the engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic converter. However, BMW has not revealed its plan for the 1 series sedan for India launch, but the launch outside China is the optimistic approach and now we can expect the launch in India as well.
Furthermore, the 1 Series sedan uses the UKL platform of BMW, also available in the BMW X1. The X1 is assembled in India locally, so producing the sedan in the country is not a very tough task as well. If the BMW 1 series reaches India, it will rival to the Mercedes-Benz CLA, Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan (upcoming) and the Audi A3 in the market.
