Now it has been official, Audi India has confirmed to launch the next generation A4 in the country on September 08, 2016. The currently running Audi A4 is the ninth generation model and has been in the service over a couple of decades. The upcoming model will be the tenth generation Audi A4 which has been on sale in the global market since the mid of last year. In India, it was first showcased at Delhi Auto Expo in early this year.
So finally, the newest Audi A4 is all set to make its way to the Indian roads with a lot of woos and wows. The updates are not just limited to the aesthetics, the performance and the comfort will certainly be jacked up. Moreover, this time, the car will be fully loaded with a number of goody bags. To explore the latest Audi A4, let’s get you through the major facts of the car:
Lighter in Weight - It’s quite a surprise that even after being longer and wider, the 10th generation Audi A4 is almost 95 kg lighter in total weight than its forerunner model, thanks to the new platform. The new Audi A4 is based on the Volkswagen-Audi group’s MLB platform which makes use of aluminium and steel in order to drop the vehicle’s weight. The lighter weight of the vehicle helps to improve the fuel economy and lower down the overall running cost.
Audi’s Virtual Cockpit - Audi’s latest generation Virtual Cockpit removes the traditional cabin theme. The ordinary analogue instrument cluster has been replaced with the all new 12.3-inch HD TFT screen that works as the all-in-one, as it displays navigation, infotainment, car information and speedometer & tachometer as well. Other features to boost the occupants' comfort are dual-zone climate control, electrically adjustable seats, premium upholstery and rear air conditioning.
Beneath the Front-end - For the time being, the Audi will launch the new A4 with only a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine which is tuned to produce 150 hp of the maximum power and the peak torque of 250 Nm. The motor is mated to a 7-Speed dual-clutch transmission. It reaches 100 kmph from standstill in respectable 8.5 seconds and up to the top speed of 210 kmph.
We can expect a more powerful version, a 190 hp, 2.0-litre petrol powertrain paired with a 7-Speed dual-clutch transmission in the near future.
Loaded with goody bags - Lots of features are being expected with Audi’s new arrival. As initially, the range-topping variants are not on the papers for the Indian market, there may be some slack on the feature list. However, the top-end versions slated to come in India later will be fully loaded with smart fitments such as Audi’s Matrix LED headlamps, Mini infotainment system with Android and iOS connectivity, Bang & Olufsen audio system, wireless mobile charging, three-zone climate control, sunroof and driving modes.
Price and Competitors - Audi’s recent launches in the country have been priced quite premium, though, we expect INR 35.0 Lakh for the base variant, 30 TFSI A4. With this price tag, the new Audi A4 will go head to head with the cars like BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Jaguar XE.
