Nissan is apparently on a spree to introduce a wide range of fresh models for the Indian market. Recently its subsidiary Datsun has come up with the Redi-Go hatch at INR 2.38 Lacs and then we came across company's plans to introduce Nissan Kicks in the country. As per a report by Economic Times, the automaker has plans to add 3 more cars to its lineup in the next three years. One of these three cars include Datsun Go Cross which is expected to reach the Indian shores by the year 2019.
Badged with the codename of EM2, this crossover appeared as a head turner at the 2016 Auto Expo held in February. It is speculated to carry the price tag of INR 10 Lacs and will compete with the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport.
Moving onto the details, the car is based on the CMF-A platform developed by the Renault-Nissan alliance. It's a sub-4 metre vehicle that will be carrying a 1.5 DCi diesel motor that is already fitted with the cars like Duster and Terrano. However the brand may also come up with an all new powertrain as well. It's quite evident that the automaker is not performing very well and hence this could be a strategy to get hold over the market.
