The Italian luxury automaker Ferrari, which is known for its supercars in the global market is all set to re-introduce the California T in India. This convertible model will be re-launched tomorrow at INR 3.3 Crore, ex-showroom, Mumbai. The automaker wanted to develop a topless car particularly for the American market, that could be driven around on the roads of California owing to the suitable weather conditions of the country. Thus, this coupe was designed and was given the name “California”. Later, the term 'T' was added to the name that refers to the turbocharged motor equipped in the vehicle.
The current California is powered by a 4.3 litre,V8 twin-turbo motor that has the capacity to deliver 50 PS of power and peak torque of 755 Nm. However, the upcoming model is likely to carry a 3.9 litre turbocharged V8 engine that would be producing an output of 552 Bhp. This powertrain will also be fitted with a variable boost management system, in which the torque amount offered rises with the change in the gear. As a result, the acceleration increases constantly at definite time intervals thereby eliminating a large portion of turbo lag.
Ferrari will operate in India through two dealerships located at Mumbai and Delhi named as Navnit Motors and Select Cars. As per some reports, these showrooms have already started accepting bookings for the year 2016. Apart from California T, other models like 488 GTB, 458 Spider, Ferrari 458 Speciale and Ferrari FF will also be available for sale. The F-12 Berlinetta will be the most expensive car and will be sold at INR 4.72 Crore (ex-showroom).
