Earlier, some market reports suggested that Fiat's new hot hatch Abarth Punto could make its way to the showrooms by October 10, but recently the buzz is going around that the launch has been delayed. As per the new developments, the automaker is likely to introduce the model officially on October 19, 2015. The company has been promoting the new Punto vigorously with the tagline “Coming Soon at 145Bhp” and has also started accepting bookings for the car at a token amount of INR 50,000. Being familiar with the Abarth powered Competizione, something similar can be expected from this offering.

Visually, this new arrival by Fiat is way more bold and spunky than the regular one. It will be available in shades of black and white with highlights of red paint at certain portions. It stands on 16-inch Scorpion alloys and carries numerous appealing elements like grille with contrast slats, contrast colored wing mirrors, well-sculpted hood, sporty bumper, etc. The interior gets a yellow stitching on the seats as well as racy steering wheel. Besides, there are Abarth badges fitted on the exterior and interior parts.

Mechanically, it comes packed with a 1.4 litre T-Jet turbocharged petrol motor that is good enough to make 145 Bhp and is coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox. It will sprint upto 100 km/h in just 8.8 seconds, while deliver fuel efficiency of 16.3 km/l. The hot hatch segment in the Indian automobile market is quite unexplored with just VW Polo in the field. Hence, the entry of Abarth Punto is surely going to add some excitement for the prospective buyers.
