Force Motors is all set to unveil the next in line 140hp Gurkha Xtreme. The top-spec offering from the Indian Automaker will carry a price tag of Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India). While Force Motors is tight-lipped on the development, the grapevine is abuzz with news of Force dealers getting in touch with potential customers and informing about the 140hp variant.
In terms of looks, the 140hp Gurkha Xtreme stays in line with the standard design but it is underneath that the new Gurkha Extreme charts a league of its own. It borrows its heart from the Mercedes-Benz OM611 family. The new 2.2-liter engine churns out 140hp at an impressive
321 Nm of torque. Reportedly, this engine also powered the now-defunct Force One SUV. Transmission duties on the 140hp trim will rest on a 5-speed manual gearbox borrowed from the new Mercedes-Benz G32. The gearbox couples the 2.2-liter engine to a dual-mass flywheel.
While the new Gurkha extreme may have missed the shift-on-the-fly system, it does get front and rear diff-locks.
Other key mechanical updates that overshoot this Gurkha Xtreme in a league of its own include:
Improved independent front Suspensions for smoother bumps.
40mm Wider Front Tracks
Revised approach, departure and ramp breakover angles.
205mmn Ground Clearance and 550mm wading depth.
The cabin also gets a modern appeal with a new equipment list. The key ones being a new center console, gear lever, and transfer case.
The new 140hp Gurkha Xtreme with the revised mechanical and cosmetic updates can now command stronger claim as the leader in the off-roader SUV segment. The segment has been long dominated by Mahindra Thar but the 140 hp capacity will give the Gurkha Xtreme the much-desired impetus as the no.1 contender. Priced at Rs 12.99 lakh, the new updates make the new 140hp Gurkha Xtreme Dearer by nearly Rs. 2.5 Lakh. Reportedly, the 85hp Gurkha Explorer costs Rs 10.49 lakh.
