Initially showcased at the Osaka Motorcycle Show last year, the concept of the Honda's CRF250 Rally has finally reached to the 'prototype' stage. The model is progressing slowly as it's been almost a year that the concept was revealed and now the transition is only at the prototype stage, production will start next.
The best part is that the bike remains almost same and has not been modified much. By the time the production starts, most of the machines turn less effective or watered down. The Rally was damn aggressive since its idea came into action. To resemble it from the company's other CRF450 rally motorcycles, the bike has been housed up with a chunk of rally raid-style stuff.
The 'prototype' variant of the CRF250 will likely get the 286cc motor used in the CBR250R to generate efficient power and torque output or may retain the CRF250Ls. Nothing is confirmed yet so assuming anything at this time is not going to be good enough.
Aesthetically, the exteriors look fairly identical to the 2015's concept. Suspension and brakes remain intact. Only a couple of modifications have been perceived, perhaps, to make it more manageable and maintenance free. A few of the race components that were there on the original concept now have been substituted with the more docile ones. The Termignoni-branded exhaust now flaunts large enough, replacing the Mugen. Moreover, the headlights, instrument console and the screen are also revamped when compared to the previous version.
Well, this is just the prototype. We do hope that the final production variant won't change much and persists the same as it is now. The automaker may reveal the bike by the end of this year and start selling the machine in 2017.
