Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India had, announced that the company will be bringing up a new 160cc bike in the commuter segment. The company is planning to launch this new bike in the third quarter of the FY 2014 that will be near the festive season in India. None of the specifications have been revealed by the company yet, but Honda is promising to bring this bike along with style and sportiness. This upcoming bike will definitely hold against the other bikes in the tough competition in the segment of 150cc. This premium commuter bike will set its foot in the Indian automobile market by the end of September, 2014.
Honda has two more premium commuters till today in the segment of 149cc; Honda CB Trigger and Honda Unicorn. However, the Unicorn and the trigger have registered good number of sales. The Unicorn Dazzler has been shut down by the company as it didn't gain much response from the people. The upcoming 160cc motorcycle is expected to give more power and mileage than the CB Trigger. The CB Trigger is powered by an air-cooled engine, which gives an engine displacement of 150cc. The engine is capable to generate 14BHP of power and a maximum torque of 12.5Nm.
Till today, Yamaha FZ Series and TVS Apache 160 are the rulers of this segment. Apart from this, Suzuki is also coming up with its Suzuki Gixxer by the end of this month. And Honda will be coming up in the competition later in the month of September, 2014. Now, let’s see who will conflict in the 160cc segment.
