Honda's upcoming BR-V Model Officially Revealed in Sketches

The Japanese automaker Honda, has released sketches of the upcoming SUV BR-V (Bold Runabout Vehicle) for the first time. The upcoming model will be making its debut at Gaikindo Indonesian International Auto Show to be held in August, 2015. This vehicle is likely to be developed by Honda R&D Asia Pacific Co. Ltd (HRAP), based in Thailand. It will be the third model to be developed by HRAP. The upcoming compact SUV will have a three-row configuration that will have the space to occupy seven adults at a time. Primarily, the focus of this model will be on the Asian market.

This SUV will get the platform from Honda Brio along with a tough exterior. It will also offer high ground clearance with large wheel arches. The fascia of this car will be similar to that of the Mobilio model. The available features highlighted in the sketches include projector headlamps, body cladding, skid plates and roof rails. Coming to the interior, the cabin of this car will also be upgraded with an all new design.

Under the hood, the powertrain of this upcoming SUV will get a 1.5 litre petrol unit that will be clubbed with two “advanced” transmissions. Honda claims that this powertrain will offer “sporty performance and great fuel efficiency”. An additional engine option of 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel unit will also be available exclusively for the Indian market.

A production version of this BR-V model is expected to be featured at 2016 Auto Expo to be held in February. The price range for this new model might be fixed between INR 7 Lacs to INR 10 Lacs. It will be competing with SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Nissan Terrano, Mahindra Scorpio and Renault Duster.
