Austrian bike maker, Husqvarna, has proclaimed that the Vitpilen 401 will hit on sale by spring 2017, parallel to the 125cc version. The news has been officially confirmed by the firm on its website. Inspired by the 1950s Husqvarna Silverpilen, the forthcoming 401 was unleashed at the EICMA Show ended last week in Milan.
The Vitpilen 401 has used the frame and the engine from the root firm KTM's Duke and RC 390. So, undoubtedly the 125cc variant is going to use steel trellis chassis and 124.7cc single shared by the Duke and RC 125. Vitpilen 125 has been spotted performing road tests in June beside the concealed 401. Therefore, it would not be a complete surprise. The concept for Viterpilen 401 has been released last year by the side of Svartpilen 401. The Former interprets the Swedish 'White Arrow' while the latter goes for 'Black Arrow'.
According to a press release, Husqvarna stated, ‘Recognised and globally awarded for its unique design the Husqvarna VITPILEN 401 is set to hit the showrooms soon. The bike that draws on the iconic Husqvarna Silverpilen street bike of the early ‘50s combining it with modern technology and premium quality hardware will be available for sale in the spring of 2017.
‘An exciting new addition to the VITPILEN family, which will be produced to hit the dealer floors simultaneously with the 401, is the brand new VITPILEN 125. Minimalistic in layout the VITPILEN 125 is also powered by a single-cylinder engine, staying true to all the unique design characteristics of its bigger brother.’
