KTM acquired Husqvarna Motorcycles GmbH lately working on its cafe racer motorcycle Vitpilen 701 which is under pipeline, it’s confirmed by the KTM house that Vitpilen is based on 390 and 690 platform based. The highly awaited one Husqvarna Vitpilen 701’s test mule spied in Europe.

Visually, the test mule of the bike does not match with the showcased Cafe Racer concept. The hanging temporary exhaust system under the chassis and heavily camouflaged black body work clearly indicates that the Husqvarna Vitpilen 701 is under primary stages of development, where only the fuel tank and seat unit are in finished form. From the spy images, various used parts in the Cafe Racer 701 is borrowed from the KTM bikes. As the used alloy wheels is from the KTM Duke and will not be the part of production version of the bike. As the motorcycle will grow toward it’s finished product all the shared component will be discarded from the Vitpilen 701.
In terms of powering, the test mule seems to carry the same KTM 690cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that is able to produce good power figure of 66 bhp and torque of 70 Nm to propel the upcoming. Suspension package have WP units from KTM subsidiary and Brembo brakes for extensive braking.
The Vitpilen and Svartpilen last year showed concept bikes are the Husqvarna’s line-up for 2017, both are based on KTM 390 and 690 platform based motorcycles and anticipated to make their debut along with a 125cc version carrying same styling cues.
It has been less possibility of introduction of Vitpilen 701 in the Indian market but 390 platform based Vitpilen 401 is expected to produce in India at Bajaj’s Chakan-Pune based facility and also sold here.
