Hyundai had already announced about upgrading its entire lineup with standard safety equipments. Since , the Elite i20, i20 Active and Verna got the dual airbags as standard, the automaker thought about applying the same to the entire compact lineup this year. Now, Hyundai has upgraded the Eon, Grand i10 and Xcent models with some additional safety package.
Talking about Hyundai’s little hatchback, the Eon now gets loaded with driver airbag on the entire lineup excluding the base D-lite trim. However, this feature will be offered as standard on the Sportz top variant.
The Grand i10 is said to be available in four variants- Era, Magna, Sportz and Asta (O), while the Asta trim has been discontinued. The i10 will house a a driver side airbag as standard across all the variants, while the Sportz variant will be offered with additional passenger side airbag.
Hyundai Xcent, the sub-4 metre sedan will get a driver airbag standard across all trims, while the passenger airbag will be added into top variants SX and SX (O). The automaker has added ABS as standard on all variants of the Xcent last year itself.
With such additions, the prices of the models is said to get hike. As of now, the Grand i10 will cost Rs 11,000 more as per the price in respective variants. The price changes of Xcent and Eon have not been confirmed yet. But, all of them will eventually get a price hike as they are based on the similar platform. The updated models will be released in couple of months.
