What if you get a chance to lay your hands on another GLC unit? Yeah! Three more SUVs under the moniker of GLC have been launched in India. Christened as GLC 220d style, 220d Sport and 300 Sport, they have been priced at INR 47.9 Lakhs, INR 51.5 Lakhs and 51.9 Lakhs respectively (all prices are ex-showroom, Pune). Besides introducing the models, Mercedes-Benz has also put an annual service package on the table that kicks out from INR 63,000 for the 220d diesel variant and INR 78,000 for the 300 petrol trim.
The Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV has made its first India debut at the earlier concluded 2016 Auto Expo and later on two of its models, namely 220d and 300 had also been released in the country. Based on the new generation C-Class sedan’s MRA platform, both the units have been imported via CBU route and thus labelled with slightly higher price. But this time around, the manufacturer has made up its mind to design the SUV locally in a way to strengthen “Make-in-India” product campaign.

As far as the powertrain in concerned, it is available with the same petrol and diesel motor that comes along with the CBU imported unit. The former is fitted with a 2.0-litre, 4 cylinder unit, churning out 245 Bhp of power with 370 Nm of torque. The diesel engine on the other side is powered by a 2.1-litre, 4 cylinder trim, producing 170 bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. Both engines are packed with a 9-speed automatic transmission as a standard feature.
Apart from the wheelbase of 2,874 mm, the company has built the GLC SUV with a total length of 4,656 mm as well as a decent height of 1,644 mm and a width of 2,096 mm. What’s more in this car is a class-leading boot space of 550 litres. Inside, it houses a luxurious cabin along with a rotary air vent, a single piece central console, and hooded instrument panel. An advanced COMAND Online infotainment system is also there. No introduction is required for safety as both the imported and the India-made models garnered a five star rating by EURO NCAP.
