As promised by the Mercedes officials, they have finally launched the Mercedes AMG GT in India across all AMG centers from today. The newly launched product is priced from INR 2.4 crores (ex-showroom Delhi). The model is being considered as a less expensive variant of the Mercedes SLS. The Mercedes AMG GT is Merc’s second product developed solely by the AMG division.

On the design front the exterior follows the characterisitc fastback GT styling with a long front hood, short rear-end, and curvaceous features while under the hood, it packs a 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 engine available in two guises, internationally. The Indian market gets, the more-powerful GT S variant, which produces 510 PS of power and 650 Nm of torque coupled with a 7-speed Speedshift DCT gearbox. Apart from the powerful engine the model is also capable of sprinting from 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, hitting the top speed of 310 km/h quite easily.
In the words of Mercedes-Benz India MD and CEO Roland Folger "The launch of the AMG GT S is the finest example of our top-of-pyramid approach for the Indian market as we are presenting the most acclaimed product from our global portfolio,". The Indian outlet of the Mercedes company had also planned to launch 15 models of Merc in India just this year alone and, this new Mercedes AMG GT marks the launch of 14th product leaving only one now for the company.
