It’s no secret that Fiat owned Jeep is coming up in India with products namely Wrangler, and Cherokee. Both are the same units once displayed at the 2016 Auto Expo and witnessed much crowd for their very aggressive profile and much tempting styling. As we earlier reported, the company will make its debut here in the country by the end of this month. Moreover, a name Jeep 551 or Jeep C-SUV is now also breaking the headlines over all the newspaper that is slated to be unveiled globally in next month and reported to be the third model for Jeep portfolio in India as well.
Nothing has been officially confirmed by the company yet, not even its official name, still commenting upon this upcoming C-SUV is making a little sense about its imminent launch in the market. Initially, the Wrangler and the Cherokee will make its presence in the Indian auto segment, while the other unit will follow their footstep sometime later in next year. Once arrived, it will be slotted between the entry level Renegade and the Wrangler Unlimited.
For powertrain, we can see a 2.0-litre Multijet II diesel engine that is tuned to fire out a whopping power of 172 Bhp. Further, it is reported that the beast will be imported here via CKD route and will be assembled at the Fiat’s local facility in Ranjangaon near Pune. Later on, the engine might get to see under the hood of Tata’s Q501 SUV in the future.
The weight of rumours suggests that the new premium SUV will lock the horns with India’s most popular and best-selling SUVs like Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Hyundai Tucson. If the stories can be believed, the upcoming model will make the consumers run about INR 35 to INR 40 Lakhs that is quite similar to said units. Well, it is not far away to celebrate its world debut, which will take place by the end of next month, all the information will lighten up at there.
