Jeep revealed the plans to introduce a sub-four-meter SUV in the country. Ranked lower to the Renegade, the SUV will make its presence as a new entry-point in the Jeep portfolio. It will also make the brand to grow in the compact SUV segment in India.
The company CEO, Sergio Marchionne revealed the plans regarding the Jeep sub-four-meter SUV during the event of parent company Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' (FCA) 5-year plan declaration
It will be similar to the Vitara Brezza and Ford Ecosport, the smaller Jeep is likely to take platform of the next generation 500 and Fiat Panda in regard to the FCA platform strategy. The expected route of the Jeep is to produce its interior and own body on the gear of the new-gen Panda 4x4.
This new smaller SUV is likely to get conventional Jeep DNA, owing to proper SUV design along with off-road capability.
The declaration of the new Jeep destined for India launch shows the rising popularity of SUVs or sub-four-meters cars in the country. In the previous fiscal, 9,21,780 SUVs attracted to new purchasers in the country, up to 20.97%. Considerably, Jeep has profited from this ongoing SUV craze, by selling 21,266 units of the notable Compass after the launch in July 2017 to April 2018. Jeep supposedly will increase the SUV market to reach 16,00,000 units by 2022.

The company is also thinking to bring 10 plug-in hybrids, three-row mid-size UV, four electric models as well in upcoming years in the country. The Grand Wagoneer and Wrangler pick-up will be launched by 2022 in the country.
In a five-year strategy, Jeep CEO reveals the plan to make position strong in the Indian market and make an export hub here. The company will increase the development capacity here by 1.5 times than the year 2017. The capacity of Ranjangaon, Maharashtra plant to increase from 1,60,000 units to 2,40,000 units in future.
