Journey of Auto Expo: From Chaos to Class

As the much talked about automotive event in India popularly known as 2016 Delhi Auto Expo has finally come to an end today, we can't help but compare what was it like back in 2012. Much like every country, this automobile exhibition takes place at a large scale with numerous automobile brands taking part in the show. This is the 13th edition of the show happening in Greater Noida, but we bet the one that took place in 2012 is the most unforgettable from the lot.

2012 Delhi Auto Expo Crowd

Going back in the time to the 11th installment of Auto Expo held in New Delhi at Pragati Maidan, the whole situation could be summed up in just one world, which is “FAILURE”. The aim was to promote different vehicles from their respective brands and to celebrate the growth of Indian automobile industry, but sadly that turned out to be a nightmare.

On the media day, instead of journalists and business class, most of the people (who seem to be unaware from the whole idea of what an auto expo is), were seen struggling around the venue. People were focussing on freebies and media kits rather than on the showcased cars and bikes. Even the newsletters were getting torn up in the hullabaloo and instead of a few VIPs, almost very second person was caught with a VIP pass. Sometimes, the designing and celeb count is not enough to make a show successful. Rather than making it a big hit, the authorities were hit by a splash of criticism.

When the things went terribly wrong, the 2014 Expo was declared to shift to Greater Noida with more spacious ambiance and a lot more well behaved attendees. This time, it was comparatively nice, but then again certain important things were not up to the mark, like improper accommodation facility, and poor Wi-Fi connectivity.

And now, the 13th Edition! Well, it was a drastic change! This is actually how things were supposed to be like it is in every international auto show. There was enough space for each and every brand and thankfully people knew how to behave. Media days were strictly restricted to the entry of only professionals and related personnel. Not only this, but the accreditation notices were sent out in advance and all the proceedings were timed accurately, so as to avoid any last minute perplexity.

Well, we do realise it's not a joke to organise such a big event and turn it into a success story at the same time. A lot of smart work and investment is involved in the process, but when it's about making an impression at an international level, nobody would want to mess it up! Isn't it?
