Kia Motors which was highly awaited for its official entry in the Indian market has marked its presence with the launch of the Seltos, an SUV which is available to purchase at an aggressive price sticker ranging from INR 9.69 lakh to INR 15.99 lakh. All the prices are ex-showroom, pan-India. The Seltos is being offered in six engine gearbox combinations. As the company claims, above 35,000 units of the Seltos has been booked so far.
Dimensionally, the Seltos is 4,315mm in length, 1,800mm in width and 1,620mm in height. If compare it with the Hyundai Creta, the Seltos is slighter longer and wider.
At the fascia, the SUV is embellished with Kia’s ‘Tiger Nose’ grille which is flanked by automatic LED headlights with LED DRLs along with a faux skid-plate. While the rear of the car is blessed with the LED tail-lights associated with a chrome strip which sports the Kia logo. In addition to this, the rear section gets faux twin-exhaust outlets and a skid plate as well.
Inside the cabin, the buyers are availed with the choice of two interior colour schemes. Wherein the GT Line of variants which are sportier receives an all-black interior treatment with red stitching. At the same time, the Tech-Line variants get more luxurious treatment with the furnishing of beige seats with a hexagonal pattern and beige stitching as well.
In terms of features provided for the top end Seltos variants, the trims come loaded with a big 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. In addition to this, the company provides the facility of brand’s patented UVO Connect suite which offers 37 features under five categories likewise Navigation, Safety and Security, Vehicle Management, Remote Control and Convenience. The features such as ambient lighting, a head-up display, a 360-degree parking camera, automatic climate control, an in-car air purifier, an electric sunroof, 17-inch alloys and cruise control add to the premiumness of the Seltos.
At the safety front, the top end Seltos variants are packed with six airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill-start assist, front and rear parking sensors and a blind-spot view monitor.

Under the hood, the Seltos is being offered with three engine option-two petrol and one diesel. FYI, all three powertrains comply with the upcoming BS-IV emission norms. The engine option 1.5-liter petrol is rated to deliver 115hp and 144Nm via a mated 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox option. On the other hand, the
1.4-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine is capable of churning out 140hp and 242Nm of peak torque with the help of associated gearbox options either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The diesel engine which is a 1.5-litre unit is called for making out 115hp and 250Nm of torque through a 6-speed manual or torque converter automatic gearbox options.
The provided electronic aids from Kia includes three drive modes (Normal, Eco and Sport) along with special terrain modes (Wet, Mud and Sand) which one can be adjusted with the help of a rotary knob positioned on the centre console.
The Seltos will be available to purchase through Kia’s 265 dealerships across 160 cities in India. The SUV is being offered with a 3-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty with a 2-year extension option.
