Popular for its higher displacement cruiser bikes, American bike maker, Harley-Davidson, recently announced the expected debut of the LiveWire electric motorcycle in the coming five years. Sean Cummings, senior vice president of Harley-Davidson confirmed the above-mentioned statement.
Manufactured by the now defunct Mission Motors, the LiveWire electric motorcycle concept was unveiled about five years back. The first electric bike that concept faced several questions that time. But now, another American two-wheeler manufacturer, Victory Motorcycle rolled out its electric bikes and participated in events like Pikes Peak International Hill climb and Isle of Man TT. Harley Davidson also made its mind to produce the LiveWire soon. But for now, the higher production cost of $50,000, which is equivalent to INR 33.4 lakh, is a bottleneck for the American two-wheeler giant.
On powering, the concept uses a three-phase induction motor, which belts out 75 PS of power and 71 Nm of torque. At this power figure generation, the battery stands only for the range of 80 km. Harley Davidson is contemplating to double the travel range before the LiveWire electric bike’s production commenced. Besides being a powerful cruiser maker, it would not be easy for the automaker to convince the audience toward this electric bike. However, it can easily attract those auto enthusiasts who always search for something adventurous.

The debut will decide the future of the LiveWire electric bike, if it received the good response after its debut, the Harley-Davidson will be the pioneer American bike maker to produce electric bike rather than the Japanese or European two-wheeler manufacturer.
