Mahindra to Acquire Foreign 2 Wheeler Brands like BSA and Nortan

As per a recent report in ET Auto, Mahindra is planning to acquire some renowned foreign 2 wheeler brands like BSA and Nortan. Interestingly, the automaker has already claimed its stake in companies like SsangYong, Peugeot Motorcycles and Pininfarina designing firm. Reportedly, Mahindra has had discussions with at least 6 major two-wheeler brands out of which names like BSA and Nortan have been finalised.

It is believed that Mahindra will revive these inactive brands by utilising its in-house R&D facility as well as Peugoet Motorcycles' engineering expertise. After the acquisition, it aims at integrating the characteristics BSA/Nortan into Mahindra's future motorcycles. The revived range of vehicles would be sold under Mahindra's badge and hence it will boost the brand's image which is the need of the hour.

If the reports are to believed, the deal will be sealed in the next 3-6 months. Mahindra had entered the 2 wheeler market in 2010 but since then it hasn't been able to perform well. Undoubtedly the introduction of Mojo helped in boosting the image to some extent, yet it needs a revival which is expected from this venture.
