Mahindra & Mahindra that has reportedly been acquired Yezdi and BSA motorcycle brands with rights to sell bikes in India, has hinted the arrival of an underdevelopment new BSA motorcycle. Mr. Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group via tweeting a picture of an old BSA motorcycle advertisement, clarifies that the brand is focusing on all-new BSA motorcycles. The introduction of these high-end premium bikes will not only diversify the range of Mahindra motorcycles but also help the brand in strengthening its root in the Indian two-wheeler industry.
The speculations generated from the tweet by Mr. Anand Mahindra are the forthcoming BSA motorcycle will be a retro classic with modern features. Other than this, owing to trademark names issue, Mahindra that has a big share of 60% in Classic Legends Private Limited (CIPL) can ask for the license for trademark names.
Post introduction of full-fledged products in the country, the brand will look forward to exporting the BSA bikes in markets like Europe and America. Moreover, the re-introduction of Jawa brand is also in Mahindra’s next projects by March 2019. The manufacturing of Jawa motorcycles will take place at the Pithampur plant in Madhya Pradesh and their sales will be handled by different dealerships network.
Furthermore, the Indian automaker is also looking into electric two-wheeler segment as it has confirmed an electric version of the Gusto scooter that is currently underworked. In addition to that, the GenZe electric two-wheeler brand is also a part of Mahindra plan that could also be introduced in the domestic market.
