Mahindra and Mahindra started to venture in the electric vehicles very early than other players in the market, and now they have extended this line of their commercial vehicles too, with the launching of two new vehicles namely Mahindra Supro Van and Mahindra e-Supro.
The pricing is INR 8.45 Lakhs for the cargo van and INR 8.75 Lakhs for the passenger variant (ex-showroom Delhi). The USP of e-Supro is its electrical power train, which is a single motor that produces 25 kW of power and 90 Nm of torque. The power generated is thus sent to the rear wheels by a direct drive transmission. Talking about the motor, it powered by a 72 V Li-ion battery pack which touted to be maintenance free along with a long lasting feature. The top speed on the papers is 60 kmph while the maximum driving range comes out to be 115km at stretch.
The charging time is calculated to be 8 hours and 30 minutes when charged with a 15 Amp plug and there are other features to eye upon like, regenerative braking, unique instrument cluster, a ‘Boost mode’ that provides extra torque for handling steep inclines and ‘Revive’ also helping in for extra 7 km range in the situation of power shortage.
The overall dimension is said to be 3,798 mm in length, 1,540 mm in width, 1,922 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 1,950 mm, which stands on 155/80-R13 tubeless tires. The said models were also showcased at the Indian Expo 2016.
