Mahindra Thar, a prominent name among available off-roading SUVs in the Indian market, is going to end its journey in coming future. As per the reports, the current generation of the Thar will be on sale since 2020. With the intention of giving a proper send off and tribute for completing 70 successful years in the Indian market, Mahindra has launched Signature Edition of Thar. it is a limited edition that will be manufactured in a limited count of just 700 units.
There will be two colour options for the Thar Signature Edition to opt your choices from Napoli Black and Aquamarine. Being a special edition model, the Signature Thar Edition received a special treatment in the form of black decals on the bonnet, silver finish on bumper, Signature Edition branding on the fender and a signature of Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group. The Signature Edition will run on stylish five spoke alloy wheels of measuring 15-inches.

The Thar is clearly an extension of our 70 years legacy and what brand Mahindra stands for. Over the years, it has successfully shaped the lifestyle vehicle segment while being popular with the off-road tribe.”
Mechanically, the Mahindra Thar Signature Edition will continue to be powered by the same 2.5 liter CRDe engine. Mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, the Signature Edition will propel by consuming 105 bhp of maximum power at 3,800 rpm and 247 Nm of peak torque at 1,800-2,000 rpm. The bookings for this special edition model has been commenced at the company’s dealership.
Among major highlights of the Mahindra Thar Signature Edition, the attributes like black finished grille, leather upholstery with Thar branding on front seats and anti-lock braking system are the remaining bits.

Other the Thar Signature Edition, Mahindra is working on an all new Thar which will not comply with the new crash test but also the upcoming emission norms as well. The next generation Thar is expected to be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.
The underpinnings and equipments on the second generation Thar will be new. It will rest on an all new platform, which will feature new front and rear bumpers, redesigned doors and handles to be settled low for a better ergonomics. Inside the cabin, the interior will be improved as there will be less noise and vibrations. If the powertrain is concerned, an all new BS6 ready 2.0 litre diesel engine will manage the propelling responsibilities in association with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
