When Maruti Baleno was launched in October 2015, all we could see was appreciation and eagerness among the audience. Even though the cosmetics and comfort features were quite impressive, its diesel powertrain was found to be lacking somewhere in terms of power. The automaker chose to fit the 75PS motor instead of 90PS and hence it affected the overall perfomance of the hatch. Now some fresh reports suggest that a 1 litre BoosterJet petrol engine is soon going to make its way to the Baleno. However, the reports haven't confirmed whether this change will be brought in the Indian spec or not.

The upcoming highly coveted powertrain will consist of a 998 cc 3-cylinder unit that will be efficient enough to make 110Bhp of maximum power and 110Nm of peak torque. In addition to this, the light weight construction of Baleno will combine effectively with the BoosterJet thereby improving the power to weight ratio, and enable it to perform better. If Maruti opts to launch this variant in India, it might be offered with re-designed 16-inch radial alloy wheels.
Maruti Suzuki is the most preferred brand in India and most of its models are known to be mentioned in the list of best selling cars. From a long time now, the brand has made a special place for itself and when it comes to customer satisfaction, the automaker doesn't leave any stone unturned to turn things in its favour. Anticipations are strong that this BoosterJet engine could be exported to foreign markets. Well, we hope the company also considers to introduce the same in domestic market. After all, we Indians are loyal customers of Maruti and it's the best gift to expect this new year. Wink!
