Slated to be launched in India on March 3rd, 2017, the Maruti Baleno RS has been spied for the first time in India since its showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. The performance-oriented version of the standard model will only be available with the Alpha trim.
Going by the spied images, those are clearly showing similar design cues and styling to the concept one displayed at the auto expo. However, the India-bound model gets some different features from the global-based unit at both front and rear including bumpers, unique mesh grille and black painted alloy wheels.
As we mentioned that the car is merely a performance version of the regular Baleno, most of the features will be mirror to the standard Baleno Alpha. Below mentioned are some of the noticeable features of the Baleno RS:
Bi-xenon automatic headlamps with LED DRLs
Dual airbags and ABS
Four wheel disc brakes
SmartPlay infotainment system with navigation
Reverse camera and parking sensors
Electric adjust and folding wing mirrors with indicators
The most striking update with the Baleno RS comes in the form of an all-new powertrain i.e. a 1.0-litre, three cylinder BoosterJet turbo petrol engine. Currently being offered in the global spec models, the motor is good for 111 bhp of power. Transmission duties will be taken care of by a standard 5-speed manual gearbox, while no option for the automatic as of now. The track-oriented Baleno RS will also come equipped with disc brake at all four wheels.
