Maruti Suzuki has recently declared that its hatchback model 'Celerio' has reached to a landmark position by selling 1.00.000 units in the Indian market. This model was launched in India at the 2014 Auto Expo. In less than 1.5 years, the hatchback has been able to impress a majority of buyers. It is the first car, which introduced auto gear shift technology in the country. After Celerio, many other automakers started to equip the same technology in their respective models.
On this occasion, Mr RS Kalsi, Executive Director Marketing Sales, Maruti Suzuki, was quoted as saying, “We thank customers for their support to brand Celerio. Celerio is the first car in India to introduce the acclaimed Auto Gear Shift technology and almost one third of the sales are of the Auto Gear Shift variants. Customers appreciated the convenience of automatic gear shifting with no loss in fuel efficiency on Celerio and within a year of its launch Maruti Suzuki's share in the lower hatchback has shot up to 71% from 61%.”
The Celerio model is the only car that offers various fuel options including petrol, diesel and CNG. It also carries a manual gearbox as well as an automatic gear shift for transmission. Celerio has not only achieved the maximum sales figure among all Suzuki models in India, but it has also attained a position among the top ten selling cars in the country.
Earlier, in the month of May, the company also celebrated its success when it crossed a cumulative production of 1.5 Crore units. Maruti has completed over three decades since it introduced its models in the Indian automobile market. We hope the automaker continues to impress its customers inside as well as outside the country.
