Maruti Suzuki announced the launch of Celerio hatchback, the Tour H2 relevant to cab aggregators and priced the new taxi version at Rs. 4.21 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The Celerio hatchback is based on the LXi (O) version of the Celerio and stacks many features from the latter mentioned model. The hatchback is put between the Celerio’s LXi (O) and LXi trims concerning the price.
The attraction about the Tour H2 is that it has a speed-limiting device as a standard fit on the variant. The new hatchback is built in relation to updated Indian government provisions, as taxis are required to have a speed limiting device to assist in reducing the number of road accidents happening on Indian roads.
Same as the Dzire Tour S taxi (based on the Dzire compact sedan), the Maruti Suzuki Celerio is also restricted to speed limit of 80 kph.
Furthermore, the new hatchback is powered by a 1.0-litre, three-pot petrol engine generating a peak power of 68hp and a peak torque of 90Nm and comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
