The facelifted model of the premium sedan Ciaz from India’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki has been spotted on its test runs in Spain. The spied test mule was with subtle camouflage on both the front and rear bumpers, besides the car was completely naked. The sedan was equipped with the right-hand drive that clearly indicates the model is meant to markets such as Indian, Asian, Latin American and Chinese market.
Riding on similar wheels from one on sale in India, apart from Apollo Alnac tyres, the test mule was featured with chrome door handlebars and a new grille under the camouflage covering as well. This newly designed grille could be a shared bit observed the first time on the S-Cross facelift available for sale in the International markets.
Other attributes at the test mule skin were identical to the current car such as the headlight, projector unit as well as the tail lights. However, the taillights were with a new lighting signature. Apart from these, the body lines and creases are also carried forward from the ongoing car. The Ciaz facelift that is updated for mid-life upgrades is likely to get revived interior with a host of new features.
Under the hood, the Suzuki Ciaz will be powered by the same pair of four-cylinder petrol engines that are able to pump out 92bhp and 122bhp respectively. A 90bhp diesel powertrain is also in question. If the India bound Ciaz facelift is concerned, the sedan will continue to get the propelling power from the 1.4-litre K-series petrol engine that makes 94 bhp and 134 Nm. While the tried and tested 1.3-litre diesel engine will produce 89 bhp and 200 Nm with the (ISG) hybrid system. The transmission duties will be under the same a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic gearbox. A new 1.5-litre diesel unit that is specially developed for India, could also join the diesel range. The power output is expected to be in same range as of the outgoing 1.6-litre mill. As the engine is a downsized version, the levied tax and price will be in check.
