Maruti Suzuki Discloses A Teaser Image Of New Wagon R Before Launch

The launch date of new Wagon R is set on January 23, 2019, but just before the launch, Maruti Suzuki disclosed a teaser image. The image is of the variant Wagon R ZXi which shows its back part and as the image is vertical it also reveals the tail-lamps which are on the rear window. The variant also gets a rear wiper along with the turn indicators which are set with the wing mirrors.

Since 1999, the Wagon R model is being sold and is doing well in the sales for Maruti Suzuki.

The platform of the new Wagon R is the Heartect which is also shared by Ignis, Ertiga, Swift and Baleno. The weight of the new Wagon R is between 50-65 kg drop in the tall-boy if compared to the former model. From the older version, the new Wagon R is larger. The car might be more spacious than the former generation Wagon R as it has 35mm longer wheelbase same as the Ignis (2.435mm) and 125mm increase in width.

The new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R will also have an optional 1.2-litre four-cylinder, petrol powertrain that produces 83hp and 113Nm of torque and the other option is the former cars 68hp, 1.0-litre powertrain. Both the powertrains will be mated to the 5-speed manual and AMT options.

There will be seven variants in the new Wagon R. In the 1.0-litre powertrain there are three variants- LXi, VXi and VXi AGS and in the 1.2-litre powertrain, there are four variants- VXi, VXi AGS, ZXi and ZXi AGS (AGS is Maruti-speak for its automated manual transmission). The safety kit of new Wagon R is more as compared to the previous Wagon R like- driver’s side airbag, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD and many more which are as per the regulatory compliance. The more features of top-specification Wagon R ZXi are- 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, power folding, dual front airbags, and adjustable wing mirrors and many more.

The price of the new Wagon R is expected to be between Rs 4.5-5.5 lakh and will compete the rivals Maruti Suzuki Celerio, Hyundai Santro, Datsun Go and Tata Tiago.
